P. Kay Coleman (pronouns she, her, hers) is serving as the Board Vice Chair of the San Diego Regional Policy & Innovation Center (PIC). She is CEO and president of Del Mar Venture Group, LLC, an angel investment firm co-founded in 2005 to help startups get the capital and management expertise they need to grow in the early years. Coleman has over 30 years of management consulting experience working with global and F500 companies in strategic planning, business transformation, and change management. Her work has covered a broad spectrum of industries including consumer products, energy, financial services, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and educational services.
Coleman is the vice chair and immediate past board chair of San Diego Foundation (SDF), a $1.4 billion community foundation and also serves as vice chair of its governance and nominating committee and as a member of its finance and administration committee. In 2021,Coleman was named Director of the Year by the San Diego Corporate Directors Forum for her SDF leadership role in establishing the COVID-19 Community Response Fund. She previously served on SDF’s strategic planning, audit, compensation and benefits, and CEO search committees.
In addition to her board roles with PIC and SDF, Coleman currently serves on the national board of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, Inc. (ACS CAN) and as ACS CAN's 2021-23State Lead Ambassador for California. She previously served as Board Chair of the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) California Division and was bestowed the title of Chair Emerita of ACS’ Southern California Area Board of Directors after serving as its inaugural Board Chair from 2017-2021. She is a twenty-year and founding member of ACS' San Diego Executive Partnership Council, and is also a member of ACS' CEOs Against Cancer. in 2019, Coleman received ACS’ prestigious St. George National Award, the Society’s highest volunteer recognition, for making a significant impact on the Society's strategic goals and mission driven programs.
Coleman also serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Westin Mission Hills Resort & Villas in Rancho Mirage, CA and is Vice-President of the Board of Directors for the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas in Maui, Hawaii.
Coleman earned her Master of Business Administration in Finance and Strategic Planning from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. She received a Master of Science in Educational and Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in English with High Honors from the University of Tennessee and currently serves on its Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Arts & Sciences. Ms. Coleman resides in Encinitas.
